By the age of 3, I could read. By the age of 5, I could write. And I’m thinking by the age of 8, I’d mastered 99% of grammar — including the they’re, there, and their type bullshit.

However, between the ages of 11 (when it came out) and about 24 or something (rough estimate), I thought the lyric in Buddy Holly was:

oh, oh, and your Mary Tyler Moore

I thought this because I interpreted the lyric as the girl doing an impression of Mary Tyler Moore. Or something. And I guess I got this from the song cause my Packard Bell computer’s Windows 95 CD-ROM came with a copy of the Buddy Holly video, and I would watch the video of the Happy Days dance off and assume Mary Tyler Moore was a part of it. Or something.

Or the MTM was a dance. Or something.

I have no idea. That’s just how I sang it. Your MTM.

Anyways, the point is, how do you fuck up grammar that way by interpreting lyrics? That’s quite backwards and strange, isn’t it?

Nevermind. I just heard Buddy Holly on the way home and decided to post Undone because, let’s face it: Buddy Holly fucking sucks.

Horrible song. Terrible song. And not just cause it’s a bad horrible terrible song, but cause of the weight it once held and what it caused.

Rivers is such a douchebag. If that song never happened, the last 19 or whatever Weezer albums would be amazing, cause he’d’ve long stopped trying to write bullshit hits like that one and instead just written songs.

I was laying in bed last night listening to this toolbag and shaking my head.

If ever there’s to be a moratorium for humorous acoustic guitar covers, it’s this. Jimmy Fallon.

We were doing this 10 years ago. Hip hop and rap and r&b and theme songs — this was all the first shit we taught ourselves when we bought guitars.

10 years ago. Before Youtube, before there was any tablature out there. We had to teach ourselves, arrange everything ourselves. Then Kris Allen plays four of the chords Kanye West knows and this thing snowballs even larger. That’s not how it’s supposed to work. You’re supposed to be playing Digable Planets or Toni Braxton or something.

This is the grounds of Pratt and Whitney. The airfield used to be operated by the company as they built and tested all their spiffy aircraft engines. A portion of the east-most runway you see there was partitioned for Rentschler Field, the stadium that the UCONN Huskies play on.

In like 2003 or 2004, I was down there working, and the grounds were completely open to us, so we all took our cars on the runway that was open to see how fast we could get.

Some guy had one of those p.o.s Chevy SSR’s, the funny looking convertible pickup truck thing, so I took that out.

Upon just looking it up on wikipedia to get the link, I said to myself “ohh, obviously…”, because wikipedia lists its 1/4 mile time as 15.9 s/86.4 mph. What wikipedia does not list is the fact that the engine’s governed, and it only took me one short run halfway down the runway to get to like 130 mph before I realized this and got mildly pissed off. My one opportunity to go faster than I’d ever gone before as a driver was hindered by a piece of shit vehicle.

I told all my friends that they could easily shoot down there with their bikes, cut through the jersey barriers blocking the parking lot off, rip down the runway a couple times and easily hit 160+. No one would ever know. It’s like a 5800 foot runway. They never did though. And this was right as the stadium was opening, so there’s probably more security around the place.

Oh well, it was an interesting day nonetheless. I got to speed a little bit, and I actually watched a blimp crash-land on the grounds of P&W. Talk about boyhood dreams.

Why I’m thinking of any of this now or writing about it or using Google Maps — that is completely beyond me. I am bored out of my fucking mind. My fever is gone though.

and in addition to hallucinating and being weak as all hell and losing my balance every so often (fell down the stairs and in the shower, that was awesome), there’s something wrong with my perception of sound, because everything I am playing on the guitar doesn’t sound correct.

It’s in tune, perfectly. But it’s off ever so slightly in my mind. Like those asshole radio stations that still practice upping the bpms of songs, and you can blatantly tell because the pitch is slightly higher? That’s what my brain is telling me: A440 is actually like 445 or 450 in my mind for some reason.

I also can’t taste anything so, whatever, I guess your senses just get completely depleted.
